Keeping Perspective

The economy is on everyone's mind right now and there is a firestorm coming about how the Republican president is at fault and how John McCain agrees with the policies that caused the problems. WRONG! And WRONG! No partisan person made this current flow of events occur. It was greed and the mismanagement of a company that caused these problems, just like the oil price index was not caused by a political party but by speculation and mismanagement of our nation's natural resources. We need to examine instead of people, the techniques used by successful businesses to be safe and profitible. We need for the steady handed risk takers in our society to buy land and homes, improve them and set our real estate market in order. Families still need housing and willl pay rent for it. The alternative financing market is going to turn this economy around. Just like small businesses will employ th emajority of people for industry to progress, in real estate it will be responsible investors that create a way to get houses in this downturn bought by first time and middle income buyers. We don't need government stepping in and regulating sellers and mortgage brokers, we need banks to take the reins directly and make shrewd investments with 20% down represnted in short term second mortgages by seller/owners so there is a responsible party keeping property in good condition and habitable.
The market will correct, but only if government keeps its hands of non-regulatory issues and lets investors with track records help new investors by mentoring and supporting them.

A small victory

Today, a group of 5 individuals assured, at least temporarily, that the American citizen can defend his or her own home. If only people of all stripes would realize that a well-armed citizenry puts the criminal constiuency at odds with their own thoughts and suppresses the villainy
of violent action against innocent, law-biding persons. John R. Lott Jr. is oft quoted on the subject of self-defense and handguns. I would have every man, woman and child read his book, More Guns, Less Crime and really examine their own states' records on the matter. When considering gun control, measure the statistics about deaths by vehicle, deaths by slipping and falling in the bathroom, death by medical procedure, death by choking on restaurant food, or for that matter, people exercising too much. How about heart disease, how much of that could be avoided by simply having our lives return to the simplicity of provision, simple vacations and the seeking of a good name and legacy of dignity.
How many violent crimes could be avoided by encouraging young men and women to assume the responsibility for babies and then have them marry or adopt out their children rather than keep them and raise them without a father. No where in the bill of rights do I see any right to avoid resposibilty for the downfall of a society. And where is the right of a government to steal tax dollars away from the support of true infrstructure to pay bureaucrats, congressmen and judges to change laws at their whimsy and neglect the desires and welfare of their constiuency. As I understood the 2nd amendment when I was in elementary school, the founding fathers expected each household to contribute steel, powder, lead, and blood to the  battlefield of virtue against tyranny.
It is amazing to me that so many liberals will condemn and villify guns, manufacturers and owners; yet, will they also arm themselves and have bodygauards and immense security to protect themselves. This is cowardice at it worse. When law enforcement can't get to a location soon enough to answer a 911 call and the family at stake is killed or injured those same politicians will blame the guns, and those who make them and the lawful gun owners; rather than encouraging people in compromised locations or neighborhoods to get training, weapons and carry permits to protect themselves.
Finally, I am also tired of hearing supposedly conservative pundits exclaim that there is no "real" need for an individual or household to have a handgun or "assault weapon". It's an machine that shoots a pellet of specific weight and configuration with a load of propellent specified for the shell casing, pellet and chambering of the machine. Shooting sports are that and no matter what arms are used they facilitate the perfecting of aim and steadiness of concentration; so, when hunting, or shooting clays, or targets or God forbid a criminal perpetrator our whits won't fail us. The type of weapon has no bearing on that if we are non-felons and obey the laws in place. Let's see if the courts have the fortitude to prosecute the law as vehemently as they wish to change it. OH YEAH, that's right, they said this week that it's unconstitutional to execute a rapist of children in Louisiana. Well so much for that question I suppose.

Let's See the soon coming

Young evangelicals aim to broaden agenda By Deborah Jian Lee  REUTERS http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080622/pl_nm/usa_politics_evangelicals_dc

Today I am saddened by the article above and what it depicts of our "Evangelical" roots. After hearing a sobbering message on the coming end of the Age (dispensation) of Grace, I read the article thinking how can we come to this, that abortion, the single most despicable of crimes against humanity is prioritized below "global warming" (an unproven theory) and "social justice" (you want social justice? QUIT ABORTING BABIES, THEY ARE INNOCENT OF EVERYTHING EXCEPT BEING AN ANNOYANCE TO THE PARENT EVACUATING THE WOMB!). What hipocrisy, I am astounded that social protests takes precedent  over evangelizing with the gospel. Nowhere did Jesus preach about the coming warming age, or the age of social injustice, he spoke of varied changes to the Earth yes, just as have happened from times since the flood.
However, he didn't say that we should go out and protest for the salvation of the Earth and its weather or the environment, we are commanded to preach the Good News to every living creature, in  the highways and biways, the message is the same message that Peter (remember him, the dude with the keys to the kingdom) preached on the day of pentecost (Acts 2:38), REPENT, and be BAPTIZED (Baptizo=submerged, not Rantizo= sprinkled, )everyone of you in the name of JESUS CHRIST (not the titles father son and holy ghost) for the remission of sin, and ye SHALL (absolutely will) recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost (as evidenced in Acts 2:4,by speaking in tongues, as the Spirt gave the utterance). We know this to be the formula preached because it is repeated later on in the book of Acts several more times.
Likewise concerning gay marriage, Jesus would not have condemned the gay person , but rather would have loved them enough to admonish them for the sinful act and commanded thenm to repent and turn away from their wickedness. That is not a condemnation of them, only the action. Just as what is preached to the murderer or the thief. But getting people to worship the creation (Earth and all its elements and inhabitants) rather than G_D is a reproach on mankind. Even the Great White Hope, Bill O'Reilly has bought into the myth of absolute s by theory. Just because a scientist in one field says something that recognizes A change does not pre suppose that the same scientist knows the cause. A specialist in one field can't always recognize the anomolies in another. So, for the self righteous, and indignant preachers of SAVE THIS EARTH, give us a break, if Jesus split the clouds tomorrow, none of your environmentalist pandering will have saved one person from death, hell, or the grave. Focus, people, let the doomsayers say on, if a person is an evangelical, he is about his father's business.
The Bible says in the last days people shall wax (OE= weaxan, grow, increase) worse and worse, it says that just as in the days of Noah people will be partying and marrying, and he shall come quickly, in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye (approx. 1/10th of a second). How will all of the social justice advocates answer for the people they freed from prison yet left imprisoned in their guilt and shadows without the spotless robe of redemption and grace. And, how many of the social and envirnmental "preachers" shall themselves be backslidden for their preponderance of good works without commitment to their own souls' redmption.
Sadly, too many of us "Christians" feel our way through our walk with G_D even though we are told "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" - KJV Philippians 4:8 All of these things flow from G_d. Even the idea of "just" is not one of human justice but those things that G_d would do. It doesn't say make a separate platform from one of them but instead instructs us to think on all of them.

What is true? G_d's word; and, all that ascribes itself to it. Our history is true, and all the evil and good we do in it. Of the good by faith is righteousness, the evil is sin and is our ticket to Hell. Since the word is true and the word says the protals of Hell are enlarged daily I must believe that many more sinners die than righteous. Something to ponder. Truth is not relative. Only man's version of the truth is. In some regard Plato understood this. In the Republic (many years since reading, so correct me if I'm wrong) he describes FORMS, being those designs having universality about them, a table, chair, cup, platter, knife, ear etc. etc.. These would be immutable IDEAS of functionality applied to an object. G_d has a similar set of commandments and descriptions that are applicable to all things and all mankind for all of history. Philosophers call them principles or first thoughts. A run through the Book of Proverbs will lay most of them out; but, they are in evidence from the Book of Genesis. Don't miss them, perhaps I''ll cover them as examples of the preponderence of political excesses.

What is honest? That which gets its substance not from theory or conjecture; but instead, from the affirmation of the observance with what G_d says in the word. Honesty is a loving general. It forces you to admit fault, speak beauty where evident, and repent whenevr necessary. As Paul Spoke , "I die daily". G_d knows all and sees all is is all things to all men and is everywhere, and since he hates lies and deception, it is best to acknowledge sin when it occurs and work to avoid the same trangressions later. Sounds like good diplomatic policy as well. DOn't lie to the devil to win him over or offer something that you may well regret. Instead take th ebattle to him and deliver a rebuke and a sound warning to leave your blood bought life alone. Even the devil knows the honest man's face.

What is just? An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, reaping what we sow, etc.. It is not a patty cake message of all is forgiven in all ways. G_d is still G-d, he changes not, which is not to say that he can't have different rewards, discipline and punishment for the different ages of man. He simply has chosen to reward us with grace in this dispesnation, even so, there is still a reward for the wicked if a person rejects his grace. So, a just man is one that respects G_d and with all his might attepts to obey G_d's commands to please him and foment a response around him from others that pleases G_d. Abraham exhibited "justness" when he bargained with G_d over Sodom and Gommorrah to save his family. Moses demonstrated the same when he bargained to save Korah and the rest of Israel, Rahab did so also when she hid the Hebrew spies looking into Jericho, she was a harlot that wanted to live and in return for obedience toward G_d and his will, she was rewarded with new life.

What is pure? An unborn baby, an unspoiled young man or woman before they recognize their faults, water from steam, Gold or Silver without dross. Innocence is purity. How people can sanction politicians who will support a woman's (or man's) right to choose is beyond me. What part in sin did the child have. And who died and made the mom or dad G_d? How can we support efforts to bring abortion to other countries to aleviate over crowding or poverty. A final note on this subject, what happened to no taxation without representation? I don't hear the politicians answering those of us they wish to ignore on tese subjects.

Are we believers yet? Jesus said the poor shall always be with us, and that poverty is a curse. Likewise, the Bible says that if a man doesn't work he doesn't eat, yet we sanction through politicians, a welfare state that rivals the former Soviet Union. We vote for politicians that promise that which is not theirs to other people who also do nothing to deserve it. Meantime, regulate the very people who give the most to charity, and use more of their untaxed income to help others, the Christians conservatives and the wealthy.
What things are lovely? A wedding between man and wife, a sunset at The Wedge at Newport Beach or at Gates Pass in Tucson AZ. My 7 year old autistic son playing the closing music from MIB on the piano (Danny Elfman would be proud).  My wife relaxing on a cruise in the caribbean after a day enjoying the Jamaican culture. My pop's photographs of the Bradbury Building in LA or his photos of the Apollo capsule being constructed in Downey. Bart Doe's portrait of my mom after she died and Beth Duke's photos of the Idaho flora. And on, all of these things the result of G_d's genius, making mankind in his own image, able to design, devise, construct and reproduce with variation for purpose all that he recognizes as good and useful, pleasing and full of promise.

What things are of good report? Men and women that stand for others less fortunate, those who battle for those oppressed by tyrants, those providing from the meat of their own table rather than Robin Hooding their way through life, a woman sacrificing her life for the indigent poor and diseased of Calcutta, 4 chaplins giving their lives for others to live through a tragedy, an unemployed laborer falling atop a man on the New York subway, ready to die for another, my pop who raised me as his own flesh and blood and made sure I was ready for this life as well as he understood it. Jerry Tipton, a fine pastor in York, PA, that never asked anything of me when I was down and depressed when he first brought me to church; but instead, asked me when I was on my feet only to do the same for others.

Virtue, a much maligned and misunderstood word. From the Latin - virtüs, manliness, excellence, goodness, this is the root... that men should act as pillars of society and that they exhibit the traits expected of morally upright,  protectors, observing and attending to the needs of a civilization and not their own self serving desires. Christian women with virtue were chaste and pure in thought not thinking of how best to work morality in their favor but exhibiting separation from unrighteous behavior.

Finally, and if there be any praise, there is, praise the creator, but not until remembering that he made the commandments, not guidelines, not suggestions; but, commands to keep us from destroying ourselves. We should praise G_d because he loves us and provides a way of escaping our stupidity. We should praise him because he alone is praiseworthy all the time. He can defend us, rescue us, feed us provide water where there is none, give us peace and destroy our enemies. He can get us through a battle by making us bold and help us to suffer the little children who are the aggregate sufferers of mankind's ignorance and selfishness. We can praise him in the midst of our troubles because he is and was and is to come, never changing.
THINK ON THESE THINGS!

Let's see if the drive-bys cover this

New Orleans vs. Iowa... Which area shows more of the values of most Americans? In the midwest I not read of looting, theft, robberies, or fraud.  I have to wonder if the general attitude towards life is  different. Is there a difference in what midwesterners and southeasterners think they are entitled to? Or is it a matter of faith? I know I've heard the complaints on statements made by various pastors about God's judgement on New Orleans for it's endorsement of sin at Mardi Gras. Maybe it's not about God's judgement; maybe, it's about the lackadaisiv attitude of the people to be proactive and think through their activity and planning. After all, weren't the funds intended for use on the levees used instead for the lake Poncintrain Bridge? I don't believe that was aational decision, yet we all pay still for the recovery.  And wasn't it the people of New Orleans, and mayor that decided to not evacuate in the buses available, many because they were afraid of the theft and loss that would occur? I've not seen this in the midwest flooding. And wasn't it New Orleans that was confiscating legally obtained and owned guns from residents who stayed and were defending their own property? Again, no such reports in the midwest. Guns, God, and guts, these are the solid foundation that our nation was founded on, these are the values that will keep our nation strong, unless we get a legislature and president that would rescind the rule of natural law, given of God, the keeping of arms for self defense, and the depatriation of our family structure. We need more dads in homes with their kids, we need more moms teaching their kids responsibility, we need more people to understand that guns are necessary in the home to prevent tyranny in the nation, keep the states stromg in times of crisis and homes and  ourselves safe from the plague of violent crime and unrighteous entitlement mentality.
After seeing the response of Boy Scouts during the tornado in Western Iowa , I submit that it would do the nation well to have a Boy Sout troop at every high school and a Cub Scout pack in every elementary school to encourage parental participation in the children's lives, instead of allowing the government to excoriate the scouts for exercising the right to determine the values and lessons they teach. Maybe we will have a nation again reflected in the values seen this week in the midwest. Let's See if there is any media coverage on this dicotomy in America.

Dads example

On this Father's Day I write little but show you the example in the Bible that my Father lived outright. And this he did willingly with no biblical knowledge just by the seed of faith God gives every man. God bless all you fathers today. I pray God hand on your lives and the lives of your children.
Luke 12:41-48
Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?” And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and prudent manager whom his master will put in charge of his slaves, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives. Truly I tell you, he will put that one in charge of all his possessions. But if that slave says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and if he begins to beat the other slaves, men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour that he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and put him with the unfaithful. That slave who knew what his master wanted, but did not prepare himself or do what was wanted, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.
This is my dad's greatest gift to his three sons. More on my "Pop" in future posts.

Will the real Senator Obama please stand up?

I was on the Hill's Blog today and had to post! When is the 20 years worth of teaching at the Trinity UCC under Rev. Wright finally take hold. This is what I wrote, Please read on,
Once again a liberal betrays his heart. "Out of the abundance of a man's heart, he speaketh". I wonder if Rev Wright ever preached that message. Also interesting is that he says this in a city that doesn't allow concealed carry. That is one of the reasons it has such a high violent crime rate. Statistically, the high the percentage of carry licenses issued the lower the violent crime rate. Bullying criminals hate the guy who stands up to them. And as far as movie lines being used, fogetaboutit. It is a street phrase used since my dad ran in the LA zoot suiters of the 30's. It just proves the shallow water he walks in, no depth.   June 14, 2008 @ 7:46 pm

I have had it with the shallowness of the minority communities in America. There was a time that you could depend on the closeness of family ties and TRADITIONAL, Abrahamic faith (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) to guide the decision making in those demagraphics. Now it is more common to have people vote and opine in favor of color, language, or benefit instead of who fully represents the VALUES that the residents profess; and, in that regard, people will abandon their values as well to support a candidate on the basis of color thus supporting a racist qualification rather than truth. Senator Obama is surely brilliant intellectually, as evidenced by the work he did to get his degrees and position himself amongst liberals to be their candidate. Is this enough of a qualification for the highest office in the land? I submit that there is a dicotomy in his thinking. Biblically, the instruction is that a person who doesn't work doesn't eat. Senator Obama supports the redistribution of wealth through the taxation of the RICH (random and abitrary amount to consider for that nomenclature). He also worked as an organizer for workers (read UNIONS) in Chicago. Where is the biblical instructions that a man cannot have two masters because he will serve one and not the other (Union vs. employer). Who writes the check? And pays the insurance premium? And does the research and development? Yet men like the Senator will incourage people to strike and protest and not work to get their way. Instead, I submit that he should be advocating for the biblical instruction (remember, he claims to be a church goer) that we should serve our "masters", bosses, employers, foremen, etc. as unto Christ. In other words to work as if Jesus himself were telling us what to do. With all this protesting going on, aren't we showing the world that Christianity is a farce? If the Savior of the world could bow and wash the feet of His disciples how much the more should we be able to do the same, (figuritively) to do what is needful for those we work for, as an example of or humility and thankfulness for the service Jesus did for us before we were evne born. I say this not because it is easy; but rather, because it is difficult, much harder trhan protesting the abuses of "the Man", Jefe, Boss. We are instrcted to "pray for them that spitefully use you". Senator Obama needs to be about his Father's business and get off this high moralizing of liberal thought. Let's see!

O'Reilly's "No spin zone" is a controlled spin zone.

I realize Bill O Reilly is big news around the web and on cable, I love his show for the techniques of interviewing and disposition he exhibits, I only wish he would quit excusing himself from confronting people who show themselves so simply as inept in the subject matter they discuss at times. Tonight Jane Fleming-Kleeb was on and talking about money and gas, and insurance (again); and, I could see that Bill wanted to say something about it but he insists on helping bad interviewees try to control their spiraling logic. I wrote the email to him below and sent it before I realized how long it was, my mistake. So, in case it isn't read, I present it to y'all ( I'm from the south, Southern California that is) for your perusal:

"Bill,
Why do you insist on letting the leftist pundits beat you to death. I have a family of six, my wife, me, 2 teens, and a 7 and 8 year old. With $4.00 gas I get a week's worth of driving in my van (20-28 mpg) by PLANNING my trips. I also feed all of us by shopping ALDI, Wal-Mart, Kroger and SAM'S Club. I can feed all of us for about 60-70 dollars a week. That includes 4-6 lbs of bananas, 5-8 Bell peppers, 3-5 ounces of protein per meal (lean meat), cereal and salads. The meals are not simple "out of the box" quick fixes. I am a reasonably skilled chef and chose to work with fresh foods. Jane is not shopping Wal-Mart with a budget, and is certainly not pro actively buying on sale for future meals preparation. And about the 47 million uninsured, that's people who are uninsured for some period of time during one calendar year, and not all at once, there may be 3-4 % (should have read13-14% of the "unisured")) who are not uninsured for a complete year, and there are a vast amount of people who are self insured (read, well invested) and many who listened to Bush and started HSA's with High deductible accounts, who are also counted as uninsured at times to boost numbers because the deductible is covered by their own managed medical savings. Quit the defensive stance and start kicking some hind end, these people have never been spanked for their stupidity.     Regards, Bill Reis"

I thank God every day for bootin' me when I deserved it and forcing me to pay attention to what is happening around me and what is being said as well. Let's see where this goes Amer'ca!

Let's see what's true

Sunday, June 08, 2008          2:12:28 PM
I am an average guy with a Paul the Apostle testimony, you know, the thrice beaten with rods, 40 times less one etc. etc. and I too count it all as joy. Knowing that I love reading certain journalists and the commentary that follows them has finally become enough motivation that I reluctantly begin blogging. In the coming days I will probably address more different subject matter than is prudent; but, in the manner of the greatest of my heroes, Jesus, I am compelled to say what is needful and is not necessarily for the masses. In fact, if may infuriate those considering themselves faithful more at times than those who need to be made aware of the mores I am certain to express. In addition, it will probably take me a while to get on board with how to do things. Feel free to critique. There is nothing you can say that will be taken as an assault, I presume in this undertaking that everyone of substance has suffered the battering of truth that makes growth inevitable.
The reference for the majority of my display will be The Holy Bible, King James Version, 1611. This does not exclude the works of William Blake, John Milton, Gregory Corso, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, or any other crafter of words that is relevant at times. Keep your education at hand and I hope enjoy the ride as I am sure I will. God Bless America, warts and all.
